About

Built on experience

North Star has always been shaped by our deep roots in the offshore industry and our commitment to safety, reliability, and innovation. Founded in 1886, we began our journey in the North Sea, supporting the oil and gas sector with a dedicated fleet of Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs). From day one, our focus was clear, protecting lives at sea while delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Over the years, we’ve grown into the UK’s largest operator of wholly owned ERRVs, building a reputation for operational excellence, highly trained crews, and a culture of continuous improvement. Our teams have helped define industry standards and drive forward what’s possible in offshore safety and logistics.

As the world changes, so have we. In recent years, we’ve expanded into the offshore wind sector, bringing decades of maritime experience into a more sustainable future. With the launch of our Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) and next-generation Daughter Craft, we’re proud to be supporting the clean energy transition with smart, efficient, and environmentally responsible solutions.

Today, we’re backed by Partners Group, a leading global private markets firm, which provides us with strong financial support and long-term strategic focus. That partnership gives us the confidence and capability to scale, innovate, and invest in technologies and talent that will define the next generation of offshore services.

North Star is more than a shipping company, we’re a trusted partner for offshore energy. And while the industry continues to evolve, our purpose remains the same: to lead with care, collaborate with integrity, and keep pushing forward.

Our vision

At North Star, our vision is to be the trusted partner of choice in offshore infrastructure. Pioneering safer, smarter, and more sustainable solutions for the future of energy.

We believe that real progress comes through collaboration, and we work side by side with our clients and supply chain partners to shape the future of offshore operations. Whether it's through developing innovative vessel solutions, improving performance at sea, or raising industry standards, we’re committed to building a more connected, capable, and resilient maritime sector—together.
