Safety
We are committed to maintaining a safety process which actively involves all employees in identifying, preventing and correcting workplace safety issues to reduce accidents and injuries.
At North Star, we’re more than a fleet of advanced vessels, we’re a team of dedicated professionals who understand what it takes to support the offshore wind industry 24/7.
Our Offshore Wind Services are built around people: highly trained crews, experienced engineers, and responsive onshore support staff who go the extra mile to ensure safe, efficient, and seamless operations at sea. Every detail of our vessel design is informed by decades of expertise and shaped by the needs of those who work on them, because delivering real value offshore starts with putting people first.
How we’re making a difference
Our vessels are carefully designed from the ground up to support every stage of your project, from your onshore warehouse to the offshore turbine. Every detail is engineered to maximise uptime, streamline workflows, and deliver a seamless, efficient service that meets the needs of your people and project, every day.
Our Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) are anything but off the shelf. Every vessel is designed and built from the ground up in close collaboration with our clients and tailored to the specific needs of your project, your platform, and your operational goals.
This bespoke approach is made possible by the strong, long-term relationships we foster, allowing us to co-create solutions that truly fit. Our innovation is driven by data and refined through a culture of continuous learning across our crews and fleet.
From design to delivery, we’re committed to building vessels that work smarter, perform harder, and evolve with you.
Workflow and operational areas remain a key and focal point of any North Star vessel, specifically designed to respond to our own experience and client expectations.
Collaborative open plan office spaces and control centres which prioritise workflow efficiency and minimise handling and lifting.
Our workflow has been designed with a smooth and logical client personnel transition from cabin to turbine and back; ensuring technicians collect what they need, and return, clean down and dry after operations.
Optimised cargo movement from quayside to our onboard warehouse utilises our innovative side-loading, and internal elevator to ensure cargo transfer throughout the range of the tide and removes the need for lifting/suspended loads.
These carefully considered and planned workflows minimise redundancy throughout operations. Our workflows are already demonstrating an increase in port call efficiency through our innovative sideloading design. Port calls are feasibly modelled around a 6 hour loading, when working with North Star.
We have designed onboard environments that promote healthy living and fosters social interaction, benefiting both mental and physical health as well as providing a proactive response system to support mental wellbeing.
We work closely with our technology partners to develop and implement the latest advancements. Our vessels are equipped with proven propulsion, dynamic positioning and walk to work technologies.
From digital twin technologies to manage preventative maintenance and improve operational readiness to integrated mission planning and decision support systems, everything is aligned to ensure the best efficiency and operation.
Fully bespoke designs to meet specific O&M project needs—no generic builds.
Tailored layouts to improve workflow efficiency and crew comfort.
Capacity flexibility, from 24 to 70+ personnel.
North Star innovations including side-loading systems for safer, faster transfers.
Optional helidecks and ability to support single or twin daughter craft.

Over 100 years of offshore expertise built into every vessel.
Our SOVs can be equipped with our propriety high performance offshore wind daughter craft.
Our exclusive workboat has been designed alongside the award winning naval architects at Chartwell Marine. It sets new standards in high performance, passenger comfort, and low emissions. From the keel up, it is a bespoke design, with the requirements for increased performance in offshore transfer, passenger comfort and workability at its core.
Building for a sustainable future
With an industry-wide focus on the adoption of greener fuels, we are collaborating on projects which bring new technologies to deliver sustainable and emission-free solutions to market across industries.
Our operational teams are focused on behavioural and technological innovations to enable more efficient practices - such as to reduce energy use and waste across our business as a commitment to our sustainable culture.
