From Family Legacy to Future Focus: Meet our SOV Manager Craig Jeffrey 👋

As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re continuing our journey behind the scenes to spotlight the people who power North Star. These interviews are more than just introductions - they’re a chance to discover what drives our colleagues, how they contribute to our success, and what makes them tick outside of work.

This week, we’re delighted to introduce Craig Jeffrey, our SOV Manager, who has been with North Star for just under a year and is already making a big impact across our operations.

🚢 Getting to Know Craig…

What inspired you to join the maritime industry and North Star in particular?
For me, it’s always been a family legacy. The maritime industry runs in our blood, my father, grandfather, and even my brother have all worked in this industry. Joining North Star felt like a natural step that connected tradition with opportunity.

⚙️ A Day in the Life

Talk me through a typical workday?
The beauty of this role is that no two days are ever the same. Some days I’m on-board vessels, others I’m meeting with clients and often I’m based in the office working through planning and strategy. That variety keeps things dynamic and interesting. I’m based remotely with our growing team in the North East of England, next to Dogger Bank where our SOV’s dock.

What excites you most about your role?
I’m genuinely inspired by working in a forward-thinking company. North Star is evolving alongside a rapidly changing industry, and I enjoy being part of a team that embraces technology, innovation, and progress - all while working with great people.

💡 Reflections & Insights

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Believe in yourself. You can achieve whatever you want - you just need to back yourself. And, more importantly, find a job you’re passionate about. Enjoying your work makes all the difference.

What’s one aspect of your role that people might not realise is so important?
Definitely the time commitment - but also the importance of team building and crew relationships. The human element can’t be underestimated. Creating a culture of trust and collaboration is key to everything we do.

🌍 Looking Ahead

What excites you about the future of the industry?
The potential is huge. North Star has the opportunity to shape the future of offshore wind. By working closely with strategic service partners, we can unlock efficiencies and innovations that others haven’t yet explored - allowing us to deliver even greater value to our clients.

How do you unwind when you’re not at work?
Simple - family time or a round of golf.

What’s one thing on your bucket list you’ve yet to do?
I’d love to visit Machu Picchu. It’s been on my list for a while - it’s a bit of a challenge to get to, but that’s part of the appeal!
